Automated Machine Systems (AMS) is a manufacturer of plastic assembly equipment that was doing well, but wanted to accelerate its growth to the next plateau.  To date, the company relied on the direct efforts of its sales force, referrals, and repeat business from a handful of customers. Guy O’Gara, President and founder of AMS, contacted Marketing Adrenaline with the request to develop a marketing program to energize their efforts and help them reach $50MM by the year 2025.

After an in-depth discovery meeting with AMS’ key players, a Marketing Action Plan was developed to kick-start faster growth.  It included honing in on five core competencies that were showcased through the development of a new website, a capabilities brochure and a PowerPoint presentation.  For appointment setting, a dimensional direct mail piece was created consisting of a helium balloon printed with the AMS logo that rises in the air when the box is opened with a string tied to a Tervis Tumber glass (AMS produced the assembly equipment for the tumbler). It included the invitation, “For consistent results that keep you on top, talk to the Plastics Performance Team at AMS”. A follow-up phone call was placed to set an appointment.


The new branding dramatically upgraded AMS’ image, outshining its much larger competitors. The balloon mailing produced a steady flow of new prospect appointments at an astounding 35% success rate. Introductions to prospective new companies was much more persuasive using the PowerPoint presentation and brochure. But the real proof was that AMS made the Business Courier’s 2016 Fast 55 for being one of the fastest growing private companies in Greater Cincinnati.
